As Front Sight, Ignatius Piazza, and any other fairly informed American knows, the U.S. Supreme Court will be deciding soon on the constitutionality of a firearms ban which the District of Columbia has had in effect for decades. The firearms ban states that no private citizen may possess a handgun within the District of Columbia, even within a private residence, and that shotguns and rifles within private residences of the District of Columbia must be rendered inoperable. Again, as Front Sight, Ignatius Piazza and any other fairly informed American would say, "Are you kidding? Why?" And the answer they receive is to keep people safe. The lawmakers of the District of Columbia apparently think that by keeping firearms out of the hands of the citizens, the violent crime rate and murder rate will go down. And yet, the District of Columbia leads the nation in murders.
Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight say that gun training will eliminate the problem that lawmakers have been trying for so long to handle. Firearms training, say the leaders of the gun training industry, will make every single murderer and violent criminal re-think going out to commit the most destructive of sins - murder. Gun training makes people safe; guns make people safe; firearms training is responsibility, say Front Sight, Ignatius Piazza, and any other fairly informed American.
Take the very recent example of the Colorado Springs shooting. While extremely unfortunate and devastatingly sad, the events could have been astronomically worse. The shooter at Colorado Springs was a man who opened fire in the Colorado Springs New Life church parking lot. Fortunately for all of Colorado Springs' New Life churchgoers, the church had recently accrued a corps of volunteer churchgoers who had firearms training and were security for the grounds. Jeanne Assam, remembering her gun training, quickly, responsibly and safely shot and killed the man who had already succeeded in killing two people, and could have gone on to kill an estimated hundred more.
If the U.S. Supreme Court is looking for an example of gun training in successful application, they need look no further than Colorado Springs, says Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight also go on to say that if the U.S. Supreme Court really does have the nation's best interest at heart, and desires to keep Americans safe, then the hero of Colorado Springs, Jeanne Assam, should be plenty to prove that firearms training means a safe America.
