Many people take the time between Christmas and New Years to determine what their resolutions will be come January 1. They look inside (and sometimes outside) themselves to see what improvements they can make. If you’re feeling like your life is out of control or too busy to do the things that are important to you then you need to create some time for yourself. By doing so you’ll be able to renew your energy and become a more balanced person.
There are two things you can do now to start taking care of yourself. First, reflect on taking time for yourself. Answer questions like
• How can taking care of myself benefit others?
• What activities do I enjoy that will bring me happiness?
• What is keeping me from doing things that inspire me?
• How can I incorporate these simple things into my everyday life?
Second, take 15 minutes to yourself every day over the next week. Find something that makes you happy and commit to spending time doing that. This is going to give you more energy and help you support those you love. If after a week you are truly enjoying the time for yourself then keep it up!
Activities can be as simple as enjoying a cup of tea or coffee, listening to music or going for a walk. The important thing is that you are doing something that is important to you.
