The epochs and the customs changed but the symbolic meaning of wedding rings has almost remained unchanged.
The traditional form of the ring- in the form of a smooth stripe of gold from 3 to 12 millimeters wide- has come to us from the ancient Egypt.
The European tradition is in favor of wedding rings incrusted with precious gems.
The rightly selected gem indeed brings cordiality of relations and peace of mind to
home.
There is even a parable which tells about a young wife who could not find the reason of her husband’s cold attitude towards her.
However hard she tried to please him: she cooked well and treated him cheerfully, she made him bed softly and caressed him ardently, guarded him when he was asleep and satisfied all his whims. But as before was cold the husband to her kindness, without appetite he ate the meals cooked by his wife.
And then the wife decided and went to a wise man. Having listened to the woman, the wise man advised her to buy a ring with precious gems from a jeweler and to put it secretly on the husband’s fourth finger of the right hand. The warmth of the precious ring will be transmitted necessarily to the husband, and the wife will see that her husband’s eyes will have a burning desire of love.
So did the wife, she bought a ring and at night when her husband was sleeping soundly, she put it on his fourth finger.
In the morning awakened husband hugged his wife gently and caressed her so that all the birds flew together to their house and tried to suppress with their singing sighs of love, tenderness and passion sounded from the house.
From those times on happiness and peace of mind settled in their house.
So you see what great power a wedding ring with precious gems possesses.
