You May Be Driving Your Kid's College Fund

By: Justin Lukasavige

I meet with many people who have ambitious goals. In fact, if you show up for coaching without them, you will soon find that we'll help you develop some.

Some of the goals we often see are:

* to be more giving and to help others more
* to save more towards retirement
* one spouse leaving the workforce to become a stay-at-home parent

I applaud these goals and I think they are worth while... and definitely worth fighting for.
car payment
One of the first things we need to do in order to reach our goals, is to discover what obstacles are standing in our way.

Often time I coach people who are making payments on a car, whose value comes close to equaling that of their yearly income. Many times they are averse to selling it, because they like 'nice things'.

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:12

If you're letting a car stand in the way of staying home with your kids, it may be time to question your value system.

Selling an expensive car, one that rivals your house payment, and buying a cheaper but reliable one, is just one of many things that most people can do in order to reach their goals.
